William asks…
How could internet advertising be made better?
I know that nobody LIKES advertising. I agree that the advertising out there sucks and is annoying. So… That’s my question.
Assuming that we aren’t going to pay for all the web sites we use, how could online advertising be changed to be a better experience for users AND more valuable for advertisers so they want to buy it?
admin answers:
The buyers online use phrases called keywords to search for an item. Thus the advertising that works for both the consumer and the advertiser is the one based on a good keyword research.
In addition, the ads have to portray the product in an unbiased and interesting way. A misrepresentation will neither help the advertiser nor the consumer, because it will be exposed sooner or later. An honest ad will bring repeated sales. More on this subject can be found in the following website:

How much money can I make through internet advertising?
I have a new web service I want to start, and I am trying to decide what is the best revenue model – making it free with ads, or charging fees for service levels. I don’t know what I can reasonably expect to make with internet ads, nor who is the best ad provider to work with. And does it matter what kind of ads, like banners or words or pop-ups?

Sharon asks…
Do Mormons prefer TV advertising over internet advertising because TV watchers are generally dumber?
Mormons prefer dealing with people who aren’t too bright, don’t they? Because bright people know that stories about golden plates, magic rocks and polygamy are a load of bollocks, right? And also, people on the internet have instant access to pages and pages of information about the Mormons whereas TV watchers just have to watch and listen…and occasionally wipe the drool from their chins as the gaze myopically at the images on their screens, right?

William asks…
How does internet advertising work?
I’m starting a media buying course and I have no idea how internet advertising works. What kinds of questions does a website ask when when selling ad space to a business? How do websites decide what to charge? Does the size of the ad matter? Information of any kind is welcomed…please help!
admin answers:
People opt for internet advertising methods because practically half of the world’s population knows HTML. If you have your own business, you have to decide on what internet advertising method works for you. Ask yourself what are you going to avail of: the expensive internet advertising methods or the cheap ones? Others will pipe in “expensive!” immediately, but they don’t know cheap internet advertising method attracts great benefits as well.
Here’s the lowdown and a comparative look on the cheap and expensive internet advertising methods:
The Expensive:
1. Pop-ups. Not only is this expensive, but also outright annoying that visitors close pop-up windows without even bothering to know what they’re all about. This is an internet advertising method that you can do without.
Fly ads are derivatives of pop-ups which are also equally irking to the visitors.
2. 1. Pop-ups. Not only is this expensive, but also outright annoying that visitors close pop-up windows without even bothering to know what they’re all about. This is an internet advertising method that you can do without.

2. Pod casts.
Broadcast is to TV as pod cast is to internet. It’s one sophisticated internet advertising method that can somehow hamper your budget. But if you’re thinking results, pod casting is worth the money.
3. Paying the search engines.
How does this one work? When someone types in a keyword related to your site, your URL is automatically included in the first page of the top results. Fixed payment for the search engine allows just that. Expensive, yes, but if we’re talking about Google and Yahoo search engines here, then don’t give it a second thought.
This is associated with another internet advertising method: the pay-per-click system.
The Cheap:
1. Blogging.
Go along the bandwagon and blog about your website. This is an internet advertising method that is popular as of the moment, so you never have to worry that this will never spur outcome. All you have to do is sign up for a blogging account, post and voila! You don’t even need to pay!
2. Submit to not-so-big search engines.
This is cheap and dependable. If you submit your site to smaller search engines, you have bigger chances to get bigger results. Remember that the search engine giants can dwarf and overlook your site easily, so this internet advertising method might just be the right one for you.
3. Text links.
This is not just cheap…this is virtually free! Let someone text link your site and return the favor.
Cheap versus expensive, that’s always the question that hounds on whenever we’re trying to get something. In the field of internet advertising, just be wise enough to figure out what will suit your needs. Go for what you want as long as there are visible results.
Hope this help out a little,

George asks…
Do you think internet advertising is getting out of hand?
I know most sites use this to make money to keep their sites up and running, and to also allow free content. However I can’t help but notice an increase in the number of ads you see on a site, and how they are in unnecessary spots. For example, when you goto to some sites to watch videos, a 15-30 second ad plays before. Now I’m not saying I’m impatient or anything but when you want to watch a video, you want to see the video and only the video. Plus when you watch numerous ones, do you really want to see the same four ads over and over? It may not be a big deal now, but in the future this may get out of hand. Do you think these types of ads even work? I’d like to hear from both sides of the agruement as to good reasons or bad reasons to internet advertising. Thanks in advance!

I would attempt to answer this question, but I am busy battling pop-ups and side ads!
Why limit the question to internet, advertising is just getting out of hand in general. You can’t even take a piss without seeing ads plastering the walls of the public bathrooms. Ads on cars, benches, billboards, walls, stuck under your windshield wiper (that really erks me). You can’t even open the front door of your house without having to pickup junk ads on the front step.
WHEN IS ENOUGH, ENOUGH!

Where can I find out data about Internet Advertising?
Where can I find out data which reveals which companies are making the most from internet advertising. I’ve checked Alexa but this is more about rankings.
I’m doing a thesis about virtual community advertising and want to see what sites like Facebook and Myspace make compared to search engine marketing and portals.
I need references (so it’s no good just providing the figures – I need facts).

Is internet advertising more effective than traditional forms to you?
internet advertising on facebook and places is targeted so you will get adverts that will interest you.

I’ve learned to ignore them. I can “watch” a commercial on TV and never hear what they say (if loud, I just mute or change the channel); in magazines and newsprint, my eye detects an ad and skips it; radio advertising, I change the station (usually, I don’t even bother to turn on commercial radio because of too many ads); internet advertising is the easiest to ignore. This page has been flashing something, but I have no idea what it is trying to sell me – and I won’t even look to find out

Promote Any MLM Or Affiliate Program With Free E-Books
Viral promotions are one the best methods of marketing a product or service online. One of the easiest viral marketing methods is the use of giving away free ebooks that contain valuable information. Enticing a prospect with free information on the front offers a non-confrontational method to get your prospect to take action. It builds a trusting relationship with your customer as you communicate with them in the e-book and future follow-up messages. Due to this fact they are more likely to purchase from you in the future as opposed to just promoting your product or service on the front end.
People come to the Internet to learn and research topics. However, the Internet is crammed with advertising. Everywhere you go you’ll find advertising. You see advertisements in the form of pop-ups, pop unders, banners, classifieds, articles, text links, spam, etc. People are bombarded with advertising hype every minute of every day when online. When you capture an interested customer offer them a free e-book on the subject matter in exchange for their e-mail address. This is non-committal and easy. You are not screaming, “BUY MY PRODUCT” but saying, “try this free information for your e-mail address”. You are giving the customer a chance to see for himself or herself if what you have is what they want.
For example, say you are selling web hosting. Offer a 5-10 page e-book on how to pick the best web hosting services. Within this free e-book have your affiliate links embedded in the text of the e-book. You will come across as an authority on the subject matter and they will begin to trust your recommendation. Thus, they will eventually buy from you.
Viral marketing is a great way to build your mailing list. Once the customer has given you their e-mail address and received their free e-book, you can then send them follow-up e-mails on the subject matter through your autoresponder and eventually funnel them into one of your affiliate programs.
Offering something free on the front end of a sale is an old method to gain customer loyalty and trust. It has been used for hundreds of years and is a proven method to grow a business. Remember to write something of value and at no cost. There are also products out there that have already been written that you can get for a few bucks. You can look at Reprint Right sites, Public Domain or look around within the market niche you are trying to penetrate and see if someone is already doing this. You can then use theirs a template (don;t ever copy!) and re-write it adding in your own element, different benefits and tips and tricks.
Three Online Advertising Tools That Do Not Work
It should be common knowledge for most advertisers on the net that they should not use any of the three advertising tricks of bad pop-ups, spamming or tons of sneaky ads that disable a computer screen. However, many advertisers do not take this advice. People that you are targeting with advertisement to can get very annoyed, and even down right mad if you try these antics. Also, consider the financial cost if you are thinking about employing these tactics. In the end, it is not worth the headache and risk. Read on about why these forms of advertising will not work.
A tight, well thought out marketing approach it the best way to promote your business. Do not think for one second that you will gain customers by using spam. Sending out bulk emails harvested from a spam list and then trying to forge where the email is sent from is tacky and deceitful. There are many federal laws against spamming and people can take it very seriously. They take it so seriously in fact that some advertisers went to court and the court forced them to pay a hefty fine for spamming email accounts. Shutting down someone’s email is not the way to gain business. Talk does fly at Internet speed, and your reputation will go down the tubes as word spreads about your annoying advertising.
The use of spamming software is very sophisticated today. If you want to take a chance with it, it would not be a very good idea though. The likelihood that you will even get a few good customers out of it is almost nonexistent. People enjoy your asking them to join your network or buy your product in a legitimate way. Financially opening up to involving a third party is certainly asking for trouble. By using some else’s email and causing a lot of heartache for them will open a complex issue for you.
The next form of advertising that will turn off a customer in a heartbeat is pop-ups. Today, there is not only the traditional pop-up but pop-under too. A barrage of pop-ups or quick pop-ups from under the screen will leave your customer insulted and angry. It does not matter how great your product is ? do not do it. In addition, a new marketing software technique slides pop-ups across the customer’s screen. This might sound non-intrusive, but think about this ? what if they are in the middle of reading some information about your site? That is not helpful to your cause. It can be especially bad if they were about to click to the order page. Loss profits are never good for your wallet. If you are going to use them pop-ups for goodness sake, learn the software, and more importantly learn a bit about the human psychology of advertising. Look around for information on how and why people buy on the Internet, and apply that to your advertising and marketing campaign use.
Not only are spam emails, pop-ups and pop-under ads bad advertising techniques to use, but the tactic of high speed spawning is hideous and more than irritating to your potential customer. If you have ever thought about using it on a customer and have experienced it yourself, then go back and experience it again. You may have forgotten what it was like, although that is hard to see how you could forget it. A vicious attack on your customers’ browser button will not let the customer leave your site. Worse yet, they are forced to do an emergency shut down of their computer. Let us hope they have saved all information they were working on because ad after ad upon hundreds will over take their screen. Please do not use this software to try to increase your profits.
I hope that you will avoid using any of these three tactics in your marketing campaign. Using them will not bring the money in at a faster rate ? in fact, just the opposite may occur. Take the time to use good marketing strategies. Learn what people appreciate in the way of business practices. Also, use manners and courteous along with a little shrewdness in your marketing strategy. There are many ways to do it. By exercising patience and learning your way around the Internet, you can bring in many very happy customers and a lot of money for you.
