Susan asks…
Can I build a billboard in my front yard and rent it out for advertising?
I live on an extremely busy/high traffic road in the country, right outside of the city. My house is located in an area that is highly traveled between a few different cities as the main route between them. I was thinking about building a billboard and renting the space out, but was wondering if I could do this? Would there be zoning issues as it is currently zoned residential? Are there rules as to how close I can have it to the road? Would it have to be approved by the city? Any info or stories about others doing this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

Nope. Don’t do it, you’ll just get buried in a pile of zoning laws. Anyone will tell you, it’s easier to change the Consitution than it is to change zoning.

Are there advertising companies who focus on small businesses and create/buy ALL ads for a fee?
I’m considering going into advertising sales and, rather than selling for a specific platform or venue (i.e. Paper A, Channel V, Billboard C), I like the idea of offering clients various venues, doing the creating/buying/placement of ads for them, trying sundry approaches (print, direct mail, online), keeping track of the success of each effort, until we find the best mix…
Are there ad companies that specialize in this for small businesses? If so, who?

My club was looking for a company that specializes in marketing, and someone recommended Reduced Printing. We use them to print all our flyers, mailings, bus ads, billboards, designing and distribution.
They specialize in all sorts of full color uv coating printing and media related advertising. We were dealing with a guy named Max. He’s really knowledgeable. Good luck!

What is something weird that happened this week?
I was driving on a bridge when I saw a suicide prevention billboard. Less than a mile ahead was another billboard advertising Nike footwear with the slogan “Just do it!”. .

It would have to be…..coming out of a restaurant and seeing a woman about 25 years old laying on the ground with her friends around her laughing.
She looked like she was having a temper-tantrum. ….LOL
Really Weird.

Does anyone know where to find Angel Investrors for a business?
Looking to start a new business, been in the industry for over a decade with company leading sales throughout my career. This business is very self contained and would involve only a few key people in order to get off the ground and could be started from an at-home office initially. Main funding would go to support my family while putting time into company, web advertising, billboard advertising (major interstate), and business filings.

www.gobignetwork.com is a website that links entrepreneurs with investors. I joined two months ago and posted a listing at $99.00 with no success. This month I have chosen the route on contacting three investors a day for $39.00 and hope to find a match. One thing to keep in mind though is that the fee is re-curring, so if you only want to pay for one month be sure to contact the Go Big admins before your month ends or they will automatically bill you. Overall, I have been impressed with Go Big. My business that I am trying to find an investor for is www.bakersfieldsbugzoo.com.
Good luck

Advertising And Celebrity
It used to be taboo for movie stars to do advertising for products in the United States. We never used to see our favorite movie star in commercials for Frosted Flakes. Catherine Zeta Jones recently broke this unspoken rule by appearing in a series of T-Mobile advertisements. While it is anyone prerogative on how they want to make money, I can understand why movie stars try to avoid getting involved in advertising for products or services. Charity advertising is one thing. Many movie stars do commercials and public service announcements for charities. However, hawking products for Madison Avenue might not be a good idea for movie stars. It can be difficult to play a serious cop role in your newest movie when you are known as the peanut butter guy from television. In short, movie stars and advertising just do not mix. Network Marketing Advertising ? We Have Vision
Do you ever watch a movie that you think is excellent and wonder why movies like Titanic are the ones to captivate the attention of the greater public? Well, I don’t. People are ridiculous and their taste in music and movies is even worse. But, if there was a case point that we could discuss for a moment, the movie that’s on my mind is Go. While I’m not sure that it created any historical cinematic breakthroughs, I tell you this; I really, really enjoyed myself for a couple of hours watching that movie. Read the rest of this entry »
