Linda asks…
How do I advertise/generate new leads, interest for our online HollywoodCharityAuction.com?
Does anyone know of any low-lost/free ways to generate leads and get more people to register and bid on our private online auction site? (www.HollywoodCharityAuction.com).
We advertise in yahoo groups, email our registered bidders, blog, twitter, post to forums, but need a new way to find new people who are interested in VIP tickets to TV shows, Movie Premiere tickets, Set Visits to TV shows, signed scripts, etc.
This site is a fundraiser for The Broadcasting Training Program, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization formed in 1992. (www.theBroadcaster.com)
Any further advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.
PS Sometimes we post individual items on Ebay, but lately they have not sold and we are stuck with an Ebay bill for an unsold item.

There are several things that you can do and the list of resources you are using is far from complete. Here are just a few sites that you can use that can help you gain even more interest and some pricing.
www.PR.com
PR.com is a website that allows you to publish free press releases. These releases show up on the web pretty well but if you want a link to your website you will have to pay $30 per instance and they will only be live for a month or two if you are lucky since they utilize viral marketing and as new releases and articles hit, older ones get buried.
www.ezinearticles.com
Ezine is good simply because of their ranking. the site will help you get information and they make money off of the pay per click of your article, meaning that your competition is more than likely going to be on the page as well. Simple tip is to offer to sponsor your own articles. The cost is right around $50 a month last I looked but it will stop your competition from showing up on the article itself.
www.sayitaloud.com
I have to tell you, though they are somewhat new, this is quickly becoming one of my personal favorites. All of their articles are 100% original in tons of different categories and you can sponsor your article for an entire year for only $55.00. You can also look at your demographics and sponsor top banner ads on other articles for the same price. They don’t haver any monthly or pay per click fees which makes them much cheaper than almost any other medium out there. With tens of thousands of visitors a week and growing, you are sure to get your best value out of them now. The biggest negatvie is how much they keep changing things on the website. I start to get used to one style and another feature comes on board that I have to figure out. But I guess that’s pretty common for new sites like this.
www.wordpress.com
Most people know about wordpress but they are worth noting in here. WP is good and free, however the easy access has really made it a targeted home to spam and people quickly get buried in the archives. You will put a lot of work in only to have it get buried rather quickly, so be sure to use as many relevant keywords as possible to increase your organic results in the search engines.
There are plenty of other things you can do, however, getting a good marketer would probably be your best bet. Feel free to yahoo me if you would like (swapitall) if you would like additional assistance.
Hope this helps.

Yahoo has a online pool game provided by www.king.com which is a foreign website(UK).
www.King.com Skill Games can be either played for money to win cash prizes or played for free.
www.King.com also advertises and upgrade for a fee, where you can participate in real tounaments with real people online for cash prizes. Winners Payments are sent via paypal .
is it illegal for NJ residents to win cash prizes in a online pool tournament?
is this a form of gambling in NJ???
what are the consquences for doing so?
Withdrawals will be sent to you by PayPal.
You do not have to have a PayPal account to be able to receive money, the money will be sent to your email address and then just follow the instructions to claim your money. Your local bank or payment provider may add some additional costs for cashing the money.
The amount you have requested to withdraw will directly be deducted from your King.com account and this will be stated in your account statement. Although it may take up to 14 days to process your withdrawal request, and therefore you should expect to wait 14 days before the money is sent by PayPal. The exchange rate used by PayPal is the rate on the transfer date, 14 days after the withdrawal request was made on King.com.

How much should it cost to post a job online – Are Monster and other large sites charging too much?
Hi,
It now costs around $385 to post a job on Monster.com for 30 days and around $350 to post a job on Yahoo Jobs for 30 days… This is a huge amount of money for such a simple service.
I am developing a new concept in online recruiting and would like to know your thoughts as a general member of the public. What do you think is a reasonable price to pay to post a job Online? (Realistic answers please) – Free would be nice, but then a company could only rely on advertising to pay the bills.
If you were posting a job online, would you prefer to pay a monthly fee or pay per posting?
Do you think its fair to pay up front then given access to search – or do you think you should be able to search first then only pay if you find someone you wish to contact?
Do you have any ideas or suggestions on what would make it easier for you or what features you would like to see?
I look forward to reading your comments, so I can adjust my business model to be inline with what the customer wants.
Thanks,
Dean
admin answers:
If I were a staffing agency, I’d prefer a flat monthly rate.
As a small business, a one-off fee is more appropriate.
Then, once the fee is paid, I get unlimited access to search as a “bonus,” even though we all know that jobs are posted and then the candidates usually self-select and take it from there.
As to price, I don’t know. When we had a vacancy to fill I was astonished by the rates; I had figured they might be in the $100 to $150 neighbourhood, and once I learned I couldn’t get anything for under $300 I used Craigslist instead. I got no bites, but I think that would be true no matter where I posted it, since it’s for a skilled trade position there’s already a shortage of labour for (small offset press operator). So in my case, because my hopes weren’t high for my ad being answered no matter what, I didn’t want to sink a lot of money into it.

I need some help with advertising!?
I have a few online stores, and I want to have them advertised. You know, in places like Google, Yahoo, etc. Do you know how I can advertise on a popular website for free? Please only reply if you know! Do not respond “no”, or I will flag you. Include website and basic instructions please!
admin answers:
There is a lot of way to advertise either free or at a very low cost online. These are broadly classified into 3 main area. 1) Buy Traffic 2)Build Traffic and 3)Steal Traffic. All of these are trying to get more visitor to visit your websites and eventually know more of your invention and get the products from you.
I normally use (2) and (3) as some of these methods are often free or at a low cost.
Find out more from the link in my profile, it tell you how to setup a successful online business including the ways for better marketing online. It will tell you what are these steps, the reason for each step, how you could go around doing it and where you could get the necessary resources free or at a low price.
Hope that it will be useful to you.

What do you think of AOL’s decision today to give away email and others services?
They will no longer market their online dial up services, and they are giving it all away for free. Even their security software and premium services potentially. The strategy is to concede defeat to broadband and free services by Yahoo/Google/MS and try to convert some of the brand loyalty into advertising dollars. Can they survive?
http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/2006-08-02-aol-free_x.htm
admin answers:
It is risky because of all the revenue they will lose. But AOL is thinking that with free service, more people will be on their website and therefore more advertising dollars would go their way. AOL has been steadily losing customers as people switch to other providers. Therefore they feel they need to try something new. I feel it is risky because you are giving up a steady stream of monthly fees that customers pay to use the dial-up service. Hopefully what they do will work out though part of me feels extremely unsure that this is the right move.

Look at completed auctions and you will have an instant snapshot of past sale prices.
Next, setup an account on eBay and get your list of items onto eBay. After a few sales under your belt, you will realize how truly easy it is to sell items on eBay. Really, anyone can make money with online auction.
eBay makes it so easy to sell that you might want to develop a full-time eBay business. Before you start one, you need to do some product research. Think carefully about what products you choose to sell. You will be dealing in these items every day, so you need to research the items as much as you can.
Come up with a list of at least 5 items that you think you would like to sell. Next, research those online auctions on eBay. See how well they have sold in the past. After going through your list, you should have a good indication of which items perform in terms of customer demand and more importantly, profitability.
Most importantly, you need to have a reliable source that you can go to for your products to sell. The best source of products are wholesalers. The successful sellers who make money with Internet auctions are the ones who use reliable, established wholesalers.

Classified Advertising in Local Markets
Word Count:

Summary:
Even with the growth of online classifieds, newspaper classifieds are still the preferred method of advertising for many wishing to sell unwanted items. Most newspapers have a large local circulation and the chances of completing a sale through the newspaper greatly increase since the product can easily be obtained. Advertising in the newspaper classifieds and locating a buyer within your locality can very well be the key to a successful transaction.

Article Body:
Even with the growth of online classifieds and the increase in popularity in sites such as Craigslist, newspaper classifieds are still the preferred method of advertising for many wishing to sell unwanted items. This is evident in the number of print classified ads listed daily in newspapers and magazines throughout the country and worldwide. These advertisements may cost more than those which can be posted on the Internet, however, posting your classified advertisements in the newspaper will likely increase the chance of a sale as you are reaching a more local market. It is unlikely that someone from across the country or around the world will want to purchase your used furniture, lawn mower or Kenmore washer and thus much of the traffic that would come to your Internet ad would be useless. However, due to the fact that most newspapers that feature classified advertisements have a local circulation, the chances of completing a sale through the newspaper greatly increase since the product can easily be obtained. On the contrary, if you were to find a motorcycle for sale online and the seller lived in Florida while you resided in California, it would be very difficult to purchase the item. Furthermore, with the decreasing costs of advertising in the newspaper, many people find it a viable method of advertising the products they no longer need.
Another reason why classified advertisements are so popular in newspapers is because of the reach that many larger newspapers get. For example, a newspaper such as the Boston Globe, had hundreds of thousands of readers throughout the Boston area and throughout Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire and Vermont. Hence, if you are selling a product such as a car or other high-ticket item, many of these people may be interested in traveling a bit of a distance to make a purchase. By advertising in the classifieds section of larger newspapers, you are reaching an even greater number of potential customers within your local market.
Internet classified advertising does have some benefits such as it is very easy to post your ad and in certain circumstances your Internet classified advertisement may attract more visitors than your advertisement in the newspaper. Therefore, it is sensible to advertise your product on the Internet as well. By combining your newspaper and Internet advertising, you are sure to reach a large number of potential buyers in both the local and distant markets.
There are two types of classified advertisements which I would strongly recommend advertising primarily in newspapers. These types of advertisements would be promoting the sale of automobiles and low paying jobs. Many newspapers have a special section for these products/services and thus advertising these products in the newspapers is likely to reach more buyers in the local market. Advertising higher paying jobs and hard to find items, such as a classic car, can do well on the Internet since people may be willing to travel far from home for these types of jobs or to acquire a unique item. If you are selling smaller sized items, such as jewelry, clothing or books, they can be sold utilizing online portals such as Ebay, since these products are fairly easy to ship to their destination and finding a local buyer is not as imperative.
In conclusion, you need to determine the best method of advertising for your item. Newspaper classifieds should always be considered since this medium can very often bring you the customer you are looking for to complete the sale. Depending on the type of item you are selling, advertising in the newspaper classifieds and locating a buyer within your locality can very well be the key to a successful transaction.

It is extremely easy to find and buy anything and everything online. The diversity of the online shopping marketplace is amazing because of its global aspect. You have endless possibilities. For the convenience of online shoppers, the number of discounts in internet stores have also been growing continuously.
There are literally thousands and thousands of online stores that continue to thrive and they all provide businesses and individuals with an electronic method of buying services and products. They provide the access to the widest variety of merchandise in the comfort of their offices or homes.
Here are some of the more popular online stores or marketplaces that truly provide great products offering and service.
1. eBay
eBay is probably the most famous online auction. Consumers are able to find all kinds of items – from books to gardening tools to appliances to clothing to baby products to electronic gadgets and even cars and real estate.
2. Amazon
This would be perhaps the second largest online store, which hosts both online stores and auctions. Although Amazon also offers the same products that eBay sells, their reputation mainly lies on the category of books and video entertainment.
3. Wal-Mart
Wal-Mart is an online store, which offers a wide range of merchandise as well. However, they also offer internet services, as well as questions regarding taxes at the start of the year. This makes Wal-Mart a great place to shop and get information.
4. QxBid

Good Communication Promotes Positive Feedback On Ebay
Good communication is the key to encouraging your auction buyers to leave you positive feedback. Such communication also helps avoid most negative feedback on eBay.
1. Good Communication Prevents Misunderstandings
Good communication helps to avoid misunderstandings. For example, if surface shipping takes six to eight weeks but the customer doesn’t know this, he may expect almost immediate delivery. When such quick delivery doesn’t materialize, he may feel that he has been cheated or that your service is slow and poor.
Thus, try to spell out delivery time frames and other details as much as possible. Is your refund policy clear? Is your product clearly and accurately described in your auction ad? Does your product’s quality meet or exceed the expectations created by your auction ad?
2. Prompt E-mail Response
If, for whatever reason, your e-mail response is slow, the customer may assume that you aren’t delivering on your promises. Prompt e-mail communication can help reassure the customer and gives evidence of good customer service.
3. Encourage Queries
Basically, state in your auctions: “If you have any questions about this auction, please e-mail me.” If a person is expecting instant delivery of an e-book but instead you send him the information via the postal service, he might be disappointed. Nip all such problems in the bud by encouraging your prospective buyers to ask questions.
4. Ask for Positive Feedback
How can you encourage buyers to leave positive feedback for you? Simply state that you’ll leave positive feedback for them after you’ve received theirs.
Since they are leaving the feedback first, they will hesitate to leave you negative feedback, knowing that you may respond in kind. If you leave positive feedback for the buyer first, they may never return the favour.
5. Reversing Negative Feedback
With good communication, you can often avoid receiving negative feedback. Try to do everything that is reasonable to make your customer happy.
However, what if you do receive negative feedback on one of your auctions? What can you do about it?
Under certain, very limited circumstances (such as an extortion attempt), eBay might reverse negative feedback unjustly given to you. In most cases, however, eBay will not reverse negative feedback.
You can use eBay’s “Mutual Feedback Withdrawal” procedure. This is where both the buyer and seller agree to withdraw negative feedback from each other. Thus, the negative feedback will be removed from both of your total scores (thus improving both feedback ratings).
The negative comments themselves won’t be removed by eBay. However, your comments left in response to a negative feedback will also stay to tell your side of the story.
Yes, good communication can lead to more positive feedback from your auctions. Such communication can also help you to avoid and even reverse negative feedback. So, by all means, promote positive feedback on eBay through good communication.
