Susan advertising billboard advertising

Susan asks…

Can I build a billboard in my front yard and rent it out for advertising?

I live on an extremely busy/high traffic road in the country, right outside of the city. My house is located in an area that is highly traveled between a few different cities as the main route between them. I was thinking about building a billboard and renting the space out, but was wondering if I could do this? Would there be zoning issues as it is currently zoned residential? Are there rules as to how close I can have it to the road? Would it have to be approved by the city? Any info or stories about others doing this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!

admin answers:

Nope. Don’t do it, you’ll just get buried in a pile of zoning laws. Anyone will tell you, it’s easier to change the Consitution than it is to change zoning.

Are there advertising companies who focus on small businesses and create/buy ALL ads for a fee?

I’m considering going into advertising sales and, rather than selling for a specific platform or venue (i.e. Paper A, Channel V, Billboard C), I like the idea of offering clients various venues, doing the creating/buying/placement of ads for them, trying sundry approaches (print, direct mail, online), keeping track of the success of each effort, until we find the best mix…
Are there ad companies that specialize in this for small businesses? If so, who?

admin answers:

My club was looking for a company that specializes in marketing, and someone recommended Reduced Printing. We use them to print all our flyers, mailings, bus ads, billboards, designing and distribution.

They specialize in all sorts of full color uv coating printing and media related advertising. We were dealing with a guy named Max. He’s really knowledgeable. Good luck!

She looked like she was having a temper-tantrum. ….LOL

Does anyone know where to find Angel Investrors for a business?

Looking to start a new business, been in the industry for over a decade with company leading sales throughout my career. This business is very self contained and would involve only a few key people in order to get off the ground and could be started from an at-home office initially. Main funding would go to support my family while putting time into company, web advertising, billboard advertising (major interstate), and business filings.

www.gobignetwork.com is a website that links entrepreneurs with investors. I joined two months ago and posted a listing at $99.00 with no success. This month I have chosen the route on contacting three investors a day for $39.00 and hope to find a match. One thing to keep in mind though is that the fee is re-curring, so if you only want to pay for one month be sure to contact the Go Big admins before your month ends or they will automatically bill you. Overall, I have been impressed with Go Big. My business that I am trying to find an investor for is www.bakersfieldsbugzoo.com.

Good luck
Janet

Which media is the best for advertising? Print ad, TVC, Billboard, pop-ups, Movie ads, fliers, etc…?

I’m doing a report about the media department of an advertising agency and I need to know which media the people think is the most effective.

admin answers:

Direct Mail is superior to everything else without question.

Direct Mail is not an intrusive medium like TV or Radio, which just comes at you if your ready, attentive or not. Those ads are also fleeting, which does not benefit memory. Direct Mail can be held and looked at longer. This invites further contemplation into the offer, and the possibilities therein.

78% of adults go to the mailbox first thing when they get home…and 3 out of 4 those people look through it before doing anything else.

99% of post cards get read
73% of unsolicited envelopes get openened.

Yeah wow…kind of an eye opener huh.

…and while any schmuck can throw together a piece of junk mail and get a 2% response, those companies who pay attention to what they are doing, and have learned how to craft a consistently effective mail piece, can take that captive audience and turn it into money.

Direct Mail is the only medium where you can target an absolute specific target. So, if you do your homework, and find your “highest probability”demographic…you can place your message directly in front of them. You get a one on one with the exact person who needs what you have to offer.

Radio and TV reach alot of random people…but the person who needs your services, and that TV/Radio ad still have to collide with each other in the same precise moment in time to be effective…or it is lost to randomness.

A Billboard is limited to those people who pass in front of it. Direct Mail is only limited to every citizen of the USA…..and then some.

Print ads in general are limited only by who you can get them in front of….but print ads are a pretty heavy hitter in their own right.

As with anything visual….it has got to look drop dead professional if you want it to get past the gate of skeptisism…the natural defense of consumers. Just like having an outstanding offer is essential for success in any type of ad. …and there are a good two dozen other checklist things that can increase response percentage.

You lay out a cheese wiz home-made print ad or direct mail piece, and it is automatically assumed anything you have to offer is of the same cheez wiz value. This unfortunately is the state of most direct mail that goes out. Business owners figure they can save a penny by doing it themselves.

Foolish indeed.

The important understanding here is that you can compare and study the different mediums…but there are too many other variables that come in to play that make a campaign successfull. Any medium can score a big hit, even with its inherent limitations….and its success or failure should not be placed on the fact that it was “direct mail” or “Movie Ad’s” or “Telemarketing”. It is content and substance that should take center stage in study…and therein you will find “what is best” for advertising.

Best of luck in your own studies and good fortune.

How do you become a human billboard?

My mom was telling me that some people make a living having companies send them products to wear or use as a human billboard to advertise. How would you go about getting this type of job? If you set up an ad on craigslist, what would you say and how much are you supposed to get paid for that sort of thing? Also, I’m NOT talking about those jobs where you dress up as a chicken and dance around with a sign. icon biggrin advertising billboard advertising Thank you!

admin answers:

I’d ask for a little more than minimum wage, maybe even up to $15 an hour. It depends on what you want to wear and how hot or cold it is outside. I’d go to local companies in your area and see if they are willing to hire someone like yourself to do that.

Joseph advertising billboard advertising

Joseph asks…

Does anyone know how to go about advertising on billboards?

I want to advertise on a billboard but I never see any contact numbers on them that I can call to buy advertising signage. Does anybody have any answers for this? Thanks

admin answers:

waste of money.

I’ve had three clients do billboards….in all three instances the effort yeilded very small results.

Billboards have a very limited available target, and people often can’t remember the contact info while driving.

Direct Mail is superior. You can target a very specific audience ( namely the exact people who would want your service) and there is no limit to quantity of viewers.

..and I’m willing to bet that your mailbox is one of the very first places you go when you get home….every day…without fail….like clockwork.

That should tell you something.

Starting Small Business Promotional Campaigns

To start a small business. Did you find what you want to sell or not and I went and everything is done, your DBA framed and on the wall and now you just need someone to buy your product or the use the service. N?  Getting to know your audience there?  Promouvoir! Promouvoir! Promouvoir!  Now all this sounds simple, but say you’re a financial expert said, a boat builder or farmer. Probably not the basics of creating campaigns for small businesses in the school learned of the boat builder. So, you need to know, and how?
What is advertising?
Why promote?

The purpose of the promotion is to inform you in the industry. To promote, because otherwise it will not be in business. For grants, such as communication, to do, has to survive. To promote and expand to attract attention or public interest in their products or services. To promote, because if you do not know anyone, do it, and no one will buy from you? Now you get the point.  How do you prefer?

There are more ways you never imagined. Have you ever heard someone say,  I can not promote and I am always busy  or  does not promote my business comes from word of mouth, you may not know how they do, but I promise you, they are somewhere promotion may only. to say everyone is talking about, did not go the promotion. (funny noise? That left the promotion.) Maybe it is larger than the natural running tap water before his shop attracts the attention because they do not do anything. Well, here are some ideas you want,  knowingly  can lead to the company.  ? Welcome your customers with a smile is a great place to start.  ? Call customers after they had the opportunity to use your product is a good way to promote, the concerns about their experiences with the organization. You may also be an opportunity to make more sales.
? A perfect packaging, shipping label on the right side that promotes pride, what you do.

? Always keep seeing flyers or brochures about your business in your area and receive people take with them.

? If you get customers into your business, have to ensure that they are received politely, professionally and immediately.

Anything that draws attention or public interest in the company, its employees, its products or services (positive) is the promotion.
But how do you encourage the masses?

Here is a story that can save you thousands of dollars on marketing and promotion, for months or years of experience.

What was the outcome? Try 120-140 leads a week!

Why?

? You do not have to open it on a postcard!

? You see it immediately, the photograph is not hidden from view by a shell.

? The message goes immediately and can not ignore or throw away unopened (the fate of many pieces of mail in bulk).

Postcards are the best way to reach new customers to start a campaign to encourage small business.

Do’s and don’ts of advertising

To start I need to tell you that advertising is not the best way to effectively market your business, there are many better ways to market. Advertising may be the most popular method, but far too many people stop there. Since advertising is often the most expensive marketing option it’s not surprising that many businesses get bogged down over marketing. Wouldn’t it be great if there were other, more cost effective ways to market your business?

Well there are, like Direct Mail, Internet, Telephone, Email (with permission), etc, and I’ll get to them later, for now, if you are advertising already, here are some important do’s and don’ts.

First make a decision to stop any current advertising that isn’t working for you. I have to say that first because, although it may seem obvious, many businesses keep on advertising in the same places year after year, whether they know its working for them or not!

Next work out a way to measure whether your advertising is working for you. Far too many businesses use up their advertising budget every year, without testing to see what is working for them. This doesn’t make sense! If an advert is working then fine, you want to keep running it and maybe even expand that particular advert further and spend more on it, but if an advert isn’t working you need to stop running it now, and instead allocate the money you would have used on it to other marketing methods, which have a much higher chance of success.

Then you should choose adverts that are designed to bring in a response. That is ‘direct response advertising’. There is a lot of talk in marketing circles about ‘brand’ advertising, but unless your company is a household name, brand advertising will have very little chance of working for you. Those large companies which use this method have spent thousands if not millions establishing their brand. If you are a small business then brand advertising will be a waste of your money.

This means that the purpose of your adverts should be to obtain a response. The bonus of this is that response advertising is easier to measure to see if its working for you.

So how do you put together a direct response advert?
Here is the proven formula for success: -

The most important part of the whole advert is the headline. If you don’t have an actual headline then it’s the first few words of the advert itself. It MUST capture the reader’s attention.

Tip if you have been using the name of your company here, stop, you should use this important space to lead with an exciting statement about your product or service.

The main body of your advert should speak to the reader personally and tell them about the benefits they will get from your product or service.

Don’t forget to include a call to action. This is where you tell the reader what they should do to follow through and get in touch with you or place an order etc. When you book an advert you should insist that it is placed on the right hand page, which is where people’s eyes are drawn first, so statistically more people will actually see, and have a chance to read and respond to, your advert.

Don’t book a long advertising run, or a large advert, until you have tested the advert first, and then only re-book if its working for you.

So, don’t waste your money on ineffective advertising, you could get much better results for less money using a mixture of other marketing methods. And meanwhile, only use adverts that have proved profitable for you.
