Sandy asks…

What is the role of an Full-service agency in the advertising process?

what is the process of advertising?
Describe the role of a full service advertising agency

admin answers:

First of all you tell them what you want to advertise and your budget and the back ground to your company as much info as you can, they go off and do some designs it can be anything from letterheads, comp slips, bags, packaging and mousemats to posters, radio and tv campaigns, if you want a website they will design and get that up and running for you. They will then present all this to you with costs and predicted impact on your business if you like it you go ahead if not tell them what you want changing. They will do everything all you have to a check the artwork or the ad and say yes or no and they will send if to the papers for example if its press advertising or off to printers if you want brochures printing or a bag company if you want bags printed etc etc. They make sure there are no spelling mistakes on anything they will get everything delivered on time to where ever you want, this saves you time and stress.

How an account manager can perform well in a reputable full service advertising agency?

When he is supposed to deal with so many things at this position how an account manager can do well and have a good balance of work-life situation at the same time.

admin answers:

I used to organize my work with reference to the priority and time constraints. If you are working in advertising world, you should be good with time and stress management. Deadlines are always there that creates stessfull situations. My suggestion is to organize the work on daily basis. See what you have to do when and coordinate with your creative, media depts. Always give them an early deadline so that they can work on time even in case of delays you can be safe for delivering the job committed.

Can you think of any good names for an advertising agency?

I have the task of thinking about a new agency name, and it feels like my head has hit a brick wall. It is a full service agency that is excellent at producing original solutions which suits the client needs. A careful process of research is undertaken so the client and its opportunities are fully understoof. We like to think outside of the box but also realise the importance of not missing the obvious. Any ideas for a name?

What is a good name for a Promotional Products/Advertising Specialty Item Manufacturer/Retail Distributor?

What i am seeking is a great available domain name! Can anyone think of anything?

I want something like PromoPal.com for a name. Or Promo Source.

Keywords:
Promo / Promotions
Direct
Advertising / Ad
Pal
Warehouse
Source
etc.

Please be serious and keep it short and simple!

admin answers:

Well, A lot of the domains are taken in the promotional products industry by now. Many of the .net’s are available still and are just as good as the .com’s because when people are looking through the search engines, they don’t care if the website is .com or .net; they just click on it. Here are a few suggestions relating to promotional products and advertising specialties.

promotionalland.com
promotionalprods.net
americanpromos.net
warehouseofpromos.com
promotionalwarehouse.net
firstpromos.net
directpromos.net

landofpromotions.net

Lisa advertising promotional advertising products

Lisa asks…

advertising specialties promotional products?

any has any info about advertising specialties for promotional products

admin answers:

Memorability. Your new product or service must be introduced in such a way that your target audience will remember it.

Targetability: Once you’ve come up with a creative way to deliver your message, you need to get it to the audience that’s most likely to buy. This is more easily done through promotional products than it is with something like, say, television commercials or billboards. Using promotional items as incentives to generate trade show traffic, or as part of your product launch’s direct mail campaign, is a great way to target the people who could benefit from your product or service.

you can more information about advertising specialties for promotional products at http://advertising77.blogspot.com/

Is there a website/supplier from who I can buy blank promotional products for printing that isn’t ebay?

I am trying to find a supplier of such things as blank keyrings, coasters, fridge magnets, mousemats and other promo/advertising products for printing.

admin answers:

http://www.cafepress.com will allow you to buy blank media. They also will let you design it, and make a commission from selling it on their site, while they do all of the actual printing. Another place to try is http://www.vistaprint.com but I am unsure of what all they have to offer. I use their free business cards, and magnets, but that is about all I know of them. Hope this helps

Linda advertising promotional advertising products

Linda asks…

What are the most effective Promotional products?

Promotional products are very important when provided to customers, it guarantees free advertising and wide exposition of the brand, and at the same time it helped clients remember the brand and how much they need it. so, what are the most effective promotional items? and where to find them?

admin answers:

in general, tee shirts, hats and pens are the most widely distributed promotional products, so we might assume they are the most effective. Of course it may depend on the context, in an event atmosphere you may have printed mugs or napkins, if you run a car wash maybe a window cleaner would be a nice item.

How can I set up relationship with advertising agencies?

Hi.
I work as an account executive for a minority daily newspaper in the US. Unlike other A/E in mainstream media, I can very less money. I want to set up relationships with big advertising agencies to expand my network, and eventually draw ads into my newspaper.
I tried so many advertising agencies, but all I had are voice mails and no responses except the front desk receptionist.
My question is how can I reach those people in advertising agencies?
Any advice is welcomed.
Thank you very much.

admin answers:

I think there are at least two avenues for you to consider.

An advertising agency or a marketing communications firm might be interested in your newspaper for two reasons:

1. The Media Director of the agency might be interested in reaching what, from your description, sounds like a very tight and well-defined demographic audience. In order to interest a media director, however, you will have to be able to provide detailed information about your newspaper. This would include the following:

• circulation – how many readers do you have?
• demographics – what is the actual demographic makeup of your readership? What is their ethnic makeup? How old are they? What kind of incomes do they have? Do they work in white collar jobs or blue collar jobs?
• distribution – how do you reach your readers? Are you a paid newspaper or a free paper? What is the geographic distribution of your paper?
• how long you’ve been in business?
• how much are your ad rates? Do you offer a 15% discount to agencies for commission?

As you can see there are a lot of details that you will need to provide in writing or on the web about your publication. This is just basic Media Kit information – every tv and radio station has them, as do all print media vehicles: magazines, newspaper and trade magazines.

Another approach to reaching ad agencies and communication firms is on the basis of submitting stories or press releases that might be of interest to your readers. Agencies are always looking for new outlets for their stories. Such a relationship could prove to be a win-win for everyone.

Good luck.

How much do advertising agencies here in the Philippines charge?

How much do advertising agencies here in the Philippines charge? For example a TVC? POPs? Print ads? A full campaign for a client? It would also be very helpful to know the rates of big agencies (like BBDO Guerrero, TBWA, Publicis Jimenez Basic, Ogilvy, Etc.) and the smaller players in the industry. Thanks

admin answers:

It really depends on what kind of media you plan to use… around 50,000 the lowest fro print ads and can skyrocket from there. If you wish to post your products and services on the net or may want to find suppliers. you may want to visit bizeen, its a website with business profile of suppliers and buyers in the philippines.

Maria asks…

How do I make connections with medium to large advertising agencies?

I own a design agency that offers very high quality graphic and web design services. Up until now we have been more of a B2C business, offering logos, brochures, direct mail, newsletters, websites, etc.

We work with a couple advertising agencies that outsource their creative needs to us. It has turned out to be a great asset to these companies because they can pick up the phone and call whenever the need arises and take comfort in knowing we can handle whatever they throw our way.

Currently, we are changing our focus to be more of a B2B design agency. Up until now, all of our B2C business has been provided through word of mouth referrals. I would really appreciate any advice people could give me to help open some new doors to advertising agencies in need of outsourcing solutions. I’m not talking about outsourcing to India either…our talent is 100% American! Thank you in advance!

Jenny advertising internet advertising

Jenny asks…

Internet Advertising?

What do you think are the opportunities of Internet advertising compare to television, radio, newspaper and other traditional methods?

admin answers:

Marketing techniques are the techniques used by corporations, companies or individuals to market products or services. These can be broken into two categories: online and offline.

Online marketing breaks down into a few basic components, which are:
Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) – the art of designing and creating websites, and then promoting and getting links in such a way as to make it rank for certain terms in the natural listings in the search engines, like the left hand listings on Google
Pay Per Click (PPC) – paid, or sponsored listings in search engines. Better written advert copy, more budget allocated per click and better conversions all affect how highly the advert ranks. An example of these is the right hand listings in Google.
Permission eMail Marketing – the sending of solicited (where the reciever has given consent to be emailed) email, advertising offers, or simply giving information. Newsletters and to an extent, RSS feeds fall into this category.
PR Copy Distribution – distributing press releases and marketable copy online. Includes press packs, articles, information packs, ebooks and ezines.

Offline marketing has many methods, such as TV adverts, radio advertising, billboards, adverts on buses, TV/radio interviews, cinema advertising, product placement… There are thousands of methods, so I won’t be listing them all here. However, if you check out the links bit below, you’ll find more information there.

There are also some methods which cross over, such as viral adverts, where something travels by word of mouth, video adverts, which can be put up also on YouTube and MySpace videos, interviews broadcast online and offline, and distributed as PodCast. In fact, increasingly we’re seeing offline and more traditional media marketing and advertising systems become adapted to and integrated with online systems. A good example is the Apple Mac vs Windows adverts, or the Snakes on a Plane marketing push.

Looking to the future, we’ll see more and more integration, as marketing techniques becomes more about engagement with brand, rather than traditional sales pushes, creating new jobs and industries within the marketing sector.

does internet advertising for small businesses work??

Lisa advertising internet advertising

Lisa asks…

Internet advertising?

I was wondering if it was known how much traffic a commercial website must have (per-day, per-month, etc) for companies to become interested in advertising on that website. For example, let’s say a small start-up company created and ran a website for its business, what would it take for advertisers to want to advertise on that website? Any help would be greatly appreciated

admin answers:

It’s not only the amount of traffic, but the demographics and how it matches the target.

What are the most cost effective methods of advertising products on the internet?

For those just starting out, would simply getting products listed with search engines be enough to bolster sales? Any internet advertising tips for all of us struggling to keep the doors open would be much appreciated.

admin answers:

Matt

I’d say get knowledgeable about using PPC or Yahoo marketing. It’s not that difficult, you just need to make your website attractive to search engines and provide ads with good keywords in them. Your ideally looking for campaigns or organic traffic. The keyword itself is vital.

Where can I get objective advice on an Internet advertising model?

I’m trying to find a qualified resource to provide some generic answers concerning a new Internet advertising model. Basically this model will offer potential advertisers a low monthly volume of extremely high-quality leads. The questions I have relate to a) pricing and b) marketing this new service. So, where do I look for this advice?

admin answers:

I find questions that require a “deeper” answer get better answers in the Q&A of LinkedIn. Their Q&A attracts a lot of professionals in the field of marketing, advertising and in this case, direct marketing.

My suggestion is to look at some examples of this type of business model. Franchising brokers and directories, for example, offer this type of business model where the advertisers (franchisers) post their info for a fee and then they pay based on the leads that they get

What if you get your college Advertising/Marketing major from a non liberal arts or business school?

I want to go to Emerson College and double major in Communications and Marketing/advertising, the 2nd of which is ordinarily a “Business major.” Am I putting myself at a disadvantage for that 2nd major because Emerson is not a business school. Will I look bad in comparison to job applicants who have a marketing major from a business school?

admin answers:

To be honest, where you went to school doesn’t really matter in Advertising. Neither does the degree you receive. People with Psychology degrees, English degrees, and Economics degrees have jobs in the Advertising field. The most important thing when applying for positions is your work experience. The best thing you can do while still attending school is to get internships. I had three internships while in school and learned more there than in my 4 years in college (with an Advertising degree). These internships are what Human Resource departments look at too.

Good luck!

How do kids right out of school with no marketing/advertising experience get decent jobs?

I graduated recently with a degree in marketing and have many years of professional experience in another area but would like to do marketing/advertising.

Now in my experience firms are looking for qualified marketers, etc. But if kids can get hired with no experience, then it seems as though I could too.

But aren’t their resumes blank?

admin answers:

The best way to network would have been through internships. Companies usually pay close attention to the interns, for employ ability.

Is an Operations Manager also required to perform marketing/advertising work?

I’m an operation manager for a car rental company and now my boss is saying that I have to spend HALF of my time working in marketing and advertising for the company. Is that part of my job? And he also doesn’t want to give me a budget to spend in advertising, so basically I have no money to work with, how am I supposed to only work with fliers and knocking on doors??? It got to a point where this is not enough anymore. Anyways, let me know what you think.

admin answers:

At every place I’ve worked (I’m a Controller), the Operations Manager is responsible for all aspects of the operations including sales & marketing. You should be able to delegate those tasks, but they would ultimately be your responsibility.

What is the difference between marketing, advertising, and public relations?

I’m getting a B.S. in Communication Studies which is a very broad major. I’m trying to decide what career path I want to take, but I’m not sure about the difference between marketing, advertising and public relations. Could someone give me a brief break down of each?

admin answers:

Marketing is a social and managerial function that attempts to create, expand and maintain a collection of customers. It attempts to deliver demand satisfying output through profitable exchanges.

Advertising is paid communication through a non-personal medium in which the sponsor is identified and the message is controlled. Variations include publicity, public relations, product placement, sponsorship, underwriting, and sales promotion. Every medium is used to deliver these messages: television, radio, movies, magazines, newspapers, the internet, and billboards.

Advertising plays a critical role in capitalist economies in creating demand for industrial output. Thus, advertising clients are predominantly profit-seeking corporations. In 1997, in the U.S. alone, over $175 billion USD was spent on advertising. Non-profits are not typical advertising clients, and rely upon free channels, such as public service announcements.

While advertising can be seen as necessary for economic growth, it is not without social costs. Unsolicited Commercial Email and other forms of spam have become so prevalent as to have become a major nuisance of users of these services, as well as being a financial burden on internet service providers.Advertising is increasingly invading public spaces, such as schools, which some critics argue is a form of child exploitation. One scholar has argued that advertising is a toxic by-product of industrial society which may bring about the end of life on earth.

Public relations (PR) is the art of managing communication between an organization and its key publics to build, manage and sustain a positive image.

Sharon advertising marketing and advertising

Sharon asks…

Whats the difference between a marketing major and an advertising major?

I’m a psychology major currently, but I was thinking of double majoring in psychology and either marketing or advertising, but I was wondering what the difference was. Which would compliment a psychology major best?

I hope to be a Consumer Psychologist–which is ultimately like a Market Researcher, but they focus on the psychological aspect of marketing/advertising rather than the general market itself.

admin answers:

Marketing is more about the business of sales. Advertising is the more creative end of sales.
